Thomas Trotter is one of Britain’s most widely admired musicians. The excellence of his musicianship is reflected in his musical partnerships with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink and Sir Charles Mackerras and by his performances at the leading music festivals around the world. He performed at the inaugural concert of the restored Royal Albert Hall organ in 2004 and the Hall is delighted to welcome him back for this solo recital.

A former organ scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, Thomas Trotter’s career is firmly founded on his relationship with Birmingham. As City Organist, he performs weekly recitals at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and Town Hall. He is also Organist at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey in London and Visiting Professor of Organ at the Royal College of Music.

In 2002, he was the recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society award for Best Instrumentalist of the Year, the first organist to win this award. Trotter is also an active recording artist. His releases of Messiaen and Mozart have been named ‘Critics Choice’ by Gramophone magazine and he received a Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of music by Liszt.
