The Lyme Regis Organ School Winter Residential Course is open to organists of all ages, backgrounds and levels of achievement. This year, the course focuses upon the organ as an instrument and how the instruments we have at our disposal influence the choice and style of repertoire that we play on them. Attendees will work with some of the UK’s finest organists through a range of talks, discussions, demonstrations and group study sessions in a positive, informal and enjoyable yet challenging atmosphere. As well as the usual high standard of teaching in small groups and the traditional formal dinner, this years course will also include a trip to Dorchester (St. Mary), Buckland Newton and Sherborne Abbey. The program includes a presentation on the pipe organ, a musical demonstration of the instrument, and a chance for students to play the organ. This free program is open to students in grades 5 through 12. Parents and Music Teachers are welcome to accompany their children to this event. All students, especially those who already play a musical instrument, are welcome. This day not only will provide an introduction to the pipe organ, but will give students who attend an opportunity to tour the campus and School of Music.
